- The Scottish government has made it clear that large-capacity disposable vapeswill be treated as disposable products under the proposed legislation currently submitted to the Scottish Parliament. The policy is expected to be officially implemented on April 1, 2025.
- BAT’s first-half performance report showed that its revenue in the first half of the year was 12.34 billion pounds and its operating profit was 4.258 billion pounds, a year-on-year decrease of 28.3%, and new tobacco accounted for nearly 18% of its revenue.
- The Russian State Duma passed a new law in the third reading, which regulates smokeless tobacco products (oral tobacco and snus). The law also stipulates nicotine content limits and prohibits any harmless statements on packaging.
- Brazilian police seized 129,000 smuggled vapes, involving vapebrands GEEKVAPE, VAPORESSO, etc. This is the country’s largest number of vapesmuggling cases seized in 2024. The driver was arrested and faced smuggling charges.
- Philip Morris International will postpone the trial sale of its heated tobacco device IQOS in the United States to the fourth quarter. In addition, the company is waiting for FDA market authorization for its IQOS ILUMA device, which is expected to be obtained in the second half of 2025.
- UBS Global Research pointed out that China is the world’s main vapeproduction base, and its strong export growth is expected to continue to change the global tobacco industry landscape. Chinese manufacturers have performed well in the disposable vapemarket and will continue to dominate the global vape market. It is expected that the annual growth rate of vape sales will reach 10.2% from 2023 to 2028, and by 2028, it will account for 9.7% of the total nicotine sales in the top 40 markets.

- In the first half of 2024, China’s total vapeexports reached US$5.381 billion, down 1.82% year-on-year from US$5.481 billion in the same period last year.
- PMI announced its Q2 and H1 results for 2024, reporting that the company’s Q2 net revenue was US$9.5 billion, and ZYN nicotine pouch shipments in the United States reached 135.1 million cans, up 50.3% from last year.
- Imperial Tobacco launched BluBar, a pod replaceable vape, in the UK, priced at £5.99.
- British American Tobacco Malaysia released its Q2 financial report, which showed that its Q2 revenue was US$137 million, down 5.6% year-on-year.
- British American Tobacco’s Korean subsidiary said that VUSE is currently on sale in 59 countries. Among them, VUSEGO800 has performed outstandingly in the Korean market, with sales exceeding one million units in half a year since its launch.
- In June 2024, China’s vapeexports to the UK were about US$124 million, down 2.93% from the previous month and 7.89% from the previous year; the export volume was about 3,111.14 tons, up 0.57% from the previous month and down 6.10% from the previous year.
- British American Tobacco has paid a fine of US$110 million to the Nigerian Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for violating federal regulations.
